Using the Application
There are some critical components to understand when using Symphony. While the application is considerably more complex and powerful then what is listed here, an understanding of the components listed below are what you need to view live or archived footage.Select a Camera
To view Live or Historical footage you will first need to select the camera you need to view from the “Device Tree”. (Your account will be granted access to the specific camera(s) you need. You will only see cameras you have access to.
Using the Timeline
To view historical video you must enable the Timeline. This is done from the top menu bar. Select the option that says “Timeline”
The timeline will expand on top of the video. This is how you navigate thru 24 hours time of video.

By hovering over any “Activity” or “Recording” period on the timeline you can see what exact time you will be selecting.

You can select any “Activity” or “Recording” portion of the time line to view the video. It is important to note that most cameras record only when activity is detected in the stream. Along with the activity recording the system also records 15 seconds before the activity began and 15 seconds after the activity ended. This is helpful to filter out stale video in lower activity areas. However in high traffic areas you may see a mostly constant stream where periods of activity flow together
Select a Date
To select another day you must Right Click anywhere in the camera view and select the “Date” option
Then use the datepicker to select the date you wish to view.
(Note: Days in bold contain footage. NonBolded days do not contain any footage)

Once you have selected the date you wish to view press the “Select” button on the datepicker

The timeline will update to reflect activity and recordings made on the date you just selected. Using the Datepicker and Timeline options together enable you to view any date in the recording history via the datepicker and any specific time on that date via the timeline.
Video Controls
Since you can manipulate time in Symphony there are a number of controls you must also understand to be effective in playing video and pinpointing events. Here are some of the most important functions to do this:
PlayspeedAllows you to manipulate the speed at which the video moves when played. Video can be play forward or in reverse.
Reverse = -16x, -8x, -4x, -2x
Slowed = 1/16x, 1/8x, 1/4x, 1/2x
Normal = 1x
Faster = 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x
Play Controls

Go to Live VideoIf you are watching historic video this button instantly takes you to the live video stream being recorded on the camera you have selected. To return to the historical video you would need to navigate back to the point in time via the datepicker and timeline.
