Frequently Asked Question

Kronos Dimensions - WFD + iOS 14 Devices - Pay & Benefit Tiles Do Not Load
Last Updated about a month ago

Changes made to the data sharing settings in iOS 14 which are preventing the way complex applications like Kronos WFD can deliver you data.

TL;DR: Traditionally browsers run in "normal" mode and have an option for a Private/Incognito mode. iOS has changed their behavior on this front, opting to make Private/Incognito mode the default and "normal" mode the optional one.  To take full advantage of Kronos WFD you will now have to opt out of this default setting to use 100% of the WFD application when using your iPhone or iPad.

The issue specifically is discussed here in this section:

These changes are idealistically good, they do take a stronger side of privacy in ultimate privacy vs functionality debate. However these features are needed to connect your WFD account to our payroll system. Apple does provide a toggle for this behavior, but the more strict option is now enabled by default in iOS 14. This means you will need to choose if you want to disable this new behavior to retain the functionality, or leave it on an sacrifice the functionality of the HR + Payroll related functionality in WFD while using your iOS device.

Mozilla has provided a good article that can help you understand what this all means to you, and can help you make an informed decision on how you want to proceed.

So what can you do?

A. Keep Apple's settings and Change Nothing - Your tiles for pay and benefit tiles will not be available in WFD until Kronos reworks these tiles (I have been informed they are doing so but have no official ETA) or Apple reworks their stance and strictness on the matter. You will still be able to make requests and see your schedules, however anything that falls under the payroll umbrella, like benefits and pay, will not be available to you.

B. Use Another Device - PC's, Android devices + others and their browsers don't have this problem. They give you a choice to run the browsers in normal or Private/Incognito modes. Apple's latest change iOS change essentially puts you in fulltime Private/Incognito mode by default. You can use another device to avoid this, but still make sure it also isn't in Private/Incognito mode when you use WFD. Our East and West computer labs are available to use and fully capable of delivering all of the WFD tiles.

C. Disable The New Settings in iOS - This new behavior can be disabled. While I won't take an official stance on whether apple was right to do this or not, I can say that making the following changes will make your phone or iPad work just as it had in all the versions prior to iOS 14. I should also mention that this is in no way to be considered a suggestion or requirement, performing the following steps is strictly your choice.

  1. Open the settings App on your device

  2. Find and select Safari from the list.

  3. Find the Privacy & Security Section and the option for Prevent Cross-Site Tracking

    4. Select the toggle to disable this option.

    --NOTE--
If you use alternate browsers on your iOS device, you will need to do the same for each of them. Apple made it mandatory for each browser to include this setting. There is no global toggle to disable this setting system wide.

--Example 1: Chrome --

  • For chrome I would repeat steps 2+3+4, while selecting "Chrome" in place of "Safari" in step 2. Also notice how the verbiage of the setting is the inverse of the setting in Safari. So for chrome I would need to enable this setting to allow it where as in Safari I had to disable preventing it.

    5. Once this is completed, open the browser, go to kronos.mslcc.com and login. Your pay and benefit tiles will display normally.

    --Example 2: UKG Pro App--

For the UKG Pro App, you must enable the "Allow Cross-Website Tracking" option
