Win10 - How to set Default Apps

If apps are not opening properly or are not opening in the correct application, you can set the application that need the file open in. Since this is user controllable you will need to set this in windows. 

MSLCC sets default browsers and PDF handlers at login. If you try to change these your settings will revert at you next login. 

Browser: Chrome (IE when chrome is not installed) 
PDF: Adobe Acrobat (Adobe Reader when Acrobat is not installed)

If you are looking to set either of these, it is advised that you login and logout of windows or restart your computer. This will typically take care of any browser or pdf handler issues. 

If this is not successful or you need to set another association please follow the steps below. 

1. Open the start menu and select the settings gear

2. In the Windows Settings window select Apps

3. From the left side menu select Default Apps

4. Email Client and Web browser can be set from this screen

5. For PDF files, you need to do this by file type. Select "Choose Default Apps by File Type"

6. Find .PDF from the list, select your desired adobe software. It is advised that you do not change anything other than PDF from this list unless you are certain you know what you are changing and the resulting effect of doing so.
